What is Paintball ? |
|
Paintball is a game suitable for any fitness level, any sex and from an age of 12 years and upwards (the oldest player I have had was in his mid 70's). Each player is equipped with a gas powered gun and safety goggles that must be worn once you enter the playing field.
The guns are normally a semiautomatic gun which means each time you pull the trigger you fire a paintball without the need to re-cock the gun.
Paintballs are made from Polyethylene Glycol (not to be confused with antifreeze) and food dyes such as those in soft drinks, lollies etc and the shell is made from Gelatin. The liquid fill in paintballs is non-toxic and non-caustic, water-soluble and made of biodegradable or naturally occurring ingredients. When a paintball hits a target, the thin gelatin skin splits open as it is designed to do, and the liquid inside makes the "paint" mark the target.
Paintball is played with two teams trying to complete a mission within the time given, similar to the childhood games of hide'n'seek, tag, cops and robbers etc. The first game which is normally played is "Capture the Flag" in which each team has a flag at there fort and your team is trying to capture the opposing teams flag while the other team is trying to capture your flag.
Once a player is tagged out of a game or "hit" they return to a given point and they start off again until either one team captures the flag or time runs out. There are a wide range of games that can be played depending on the number of people playing with each game teaching and needing new tactics to win. Paintball is a team sport, which that teaches leadership skills as well as communication skills.
In closing Paintball is a very safe game, exciting, challenging and is able to teach skills in a very friendly manor. |
